Dear buddha, Four hundred fundraisers in 14 days! That’s the number of fundraisers members of Congress are attending in Washington, D.C.—and those are just the ones we know about. A story yesterday in Politico brought this outrageous number to light, and provides a great example of why Congress should pass Fair Elections now. We need your support to put Fair Elections over the top. Please make a donation of $14 or $400 to help us show Congress it's time to get off the fundraising treadmill and get back to doing the people’s work. The American people feel disconnected from the political process and it’s not hard to see why. While working families are struggling, and with important issues in front of us, members of Congress are busy attending high dollar, swanky fundraisers in Washington, D.C., hosted by special interests and their lobbyists. We need to put an end to this culture and we can do it with the Fair Elections Now Act (S. 752, H.R. 6116/1826). We won a historic victory in the House Administration Committee last week when Fair Elections moved a step closer to passage. Now we need to turn up the pressure to get the bill on the floor. Your contributions will fund our grassroots and media effort to urge Congress to vote for Fair Elections this year. Please consider making a donation of $14 or $400, or anywhere in between, to help show Congress we want them looking out for us, not big money donors. Congress needs to spend less time making the rounds with Washington, D.C. elites and more time addressing the needs of ordinary Americans. With Fair Elections they would do just that. Please make a donation to this effort so we can have a government that is of, by, and for the people. Thanks for all that you do. Sincerely, David Donnelly National Campaigns Director |
